Beer Pong is America's most popular drinking game. The materials are easy enough to gather - ping pong balls, cups, a table, friends and beer. The set up is also very easy - just set up 6 or 10 cups on both sides of the table in a triangle formation and fill them 1/4 full each with beer. Even playing is a snap! Just throw the balls across the table and try to hit your opponent's cup. Each cup that is hit must be removed from the table and drank, the player or team to knock out all of their opponent's cups is the winner!
Beer Pong is so popular that different houses use a variety of different rules. It is a good idea to try to find out what some of the house rules are before you play because if you don't know to look out for a "bounce"... well you're going to get bounced on!

Bouncing - This is when you bounce the ball off your beer pong table to hit the opponents cup. If you hit a cup with a bounce then the opposing team must drink two beers - but the opposing team is allowed to slap the ball away if they see you bouncing. This is a good way to keep players on their toes.
Catching - If you throw the ball and it lands behind the table the opposing team can catch it. A successful catch forces the person who threw the ball to take away and drink a cup. Catches must be "clean" which means absolutely no fumbles and the catch must be one handed.
Game Cup - If you throw the ball into a cup that was already made that still has beer in it, the game is over. This usually happens when a player removes a hit cup and then holds the cup instead of immediately drinking it or if both players on a team just happen to hit the same cup at the same time. This can be a very devastating way to lose your beer pong game - if you're going to hold your cups hold them with your hand blocking the top.
Island - If a cup is separated from the rest of the cups a shooting player may call "island". This means if they hit the island cup it counts as two cups but if they hit any other cup it doesn't count.
There are many other rules out there but these are the most popular ones I have seen. Beer Pong is an ever growing and changing sport so I wouldn't be surprised if I add to this article in the near future :)
